What are Gig Buddies Group Social Events?

Gig Buddies group social events are hosted by the GB team so that all signed-up participants and volunteers in the Gig Buddies project can catch up and do fun stuff in a group setting. 

Monthly group social events are held all over Metro Sydney and Central Coast. 

The main focus of the Gig Buddies project is to "buddy-up" participants and volunteers so they can catch up and go to their own events together.

Gig Buddies group social events are a "bonus" way for participants to meet people and socialise.

All group social events are run as "not-for-profit".

 Participants only pay for a group social event if they need to cover the cost of admission tickets, venue hire and/or catering.

Group social events are included* as part of being in the Gig Buddies project. 

* participants pay for their own food and drinks  (unless a catered event)

What: A relaxed evening of live music, food stalls, & fun under the stars!

*this activity is for active Gig Buddies participants, support staff and volunteers only (we are joining a public event as a group). Please contact Gig Buddies at info@gigbuddiessydney.org if you would like to find out more.

Where: Wahroonga Park on the corner of Illoura Avenue & Millewa Avenue, 2076 (See map below).

When: Saturday 17 October

What time do we meet? 5:30pm

What time does it end? 7:30pm

Host: Charlotte (0403 184 404)

Accessibility: This event if fully accessible. Please note that we will be sitting on grass. You are welcome to bring your own chairs &/or picnic blanket.

Cost: Pay for your own food & drinks

Menu: There will be 4-5 of different food trucks. You are also welcome to bring your own food & drinks. No alcohol can be purchased on site, but it can be brought from elsewhere (BYO).

Meeting spot: We will be meeting on the grass in the picnic area (this will be in the front section). Please look out for Gig Buddies, & call the number above if you can't find us.

How do I get there? The park is a 2-minute walk from Wahroonga Station & bus stops. Please head to https://transportnsw.info to plan your route to get there.

How will I get home? Please load up the same link https://transportnsw.info for suitable options on how to get home. Please note, transports to & from the venue is not supplied. Attendees are required to make their own way to & from the venue.

Dress code: Smart comfortable clothing

What else do I need to bring?

  • Money for food & drinks
  • Don’t forget your Opal card if catching public transport
  • Phone for pictures and finding staff
  • A picnic blanket &/or a chair

How do I join? Register by getting a ticket from this page (click 'add to bag' in the top right hand corner and enter your details)

Please note:

  1. Attendees must bring ID.
  2. Gig Buddies staff will be in attendance, but will not be on hand to provide individual support.
  3. Getting there: Transport to and from the venue is not supplied. Attendees are responsible for making their own way to and from the venue.
  4. Getting home: Gig Buddies staff may help attendees with catching public transport, taxis or Ubers home - up until 30 minutes after the scheduled end; Gig Buddies staff are unable to assist attendees who remain at the venue beyond this time.
  5. Attendees do not need to be paired with a gig buddy to join us. All signed up participants with a current service agreement or volunteers who have completed compliance are welcome to join us.
  6. COVID-19: If you’re feeling unwell we ask that you do not attend.
  7. Participants who require extra support must let the Gig Buddies team know if they will be bringing along a support worker or family member to an event. Thank you.
