All go in April

Movies, laser tag, pickle ball, trivia, pub dinners, a mini-festival and a trip to Symbio Wildlife Park. We’ve plenty going on in the month of April.

We’re putting on a total of EIGHT socials, connecting with buddies in Campbelltown, Newtown, Castle Hill, Hornsby, Chatswood, Burwood, Helensburgh and Clovelly.

Load up any of the links above to join us in April.

Tickets, get your tickets

Our April outings aside, we have tickets left for one remaining February catch up.

Later this week we head to Gymea to check out the art express exhibition.

Please note, the lunch offering in Longueville (24/2) and music bingo in Kingsford (25/2) have both sold out.

Marching on

And looking a little further afield, tickets to our March outings are selling well.

Next month we invite buddies to join us in Penrith, Miranda, Ourimbah, Chippendale and Bankstown for pub gatherings, Mexican and Asian food outings, barefoot bowls and karaoke.

Our dinner offerings in Manly and Balmain are both fully booked.

Out and about

Our facilitated socials continue to keep us busy. Just last week we facilitated two, while later today we head to the pub to watch San Francisco 49ers vs. Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl LVIII.

It was great to catch up with buddies in the city on Friday (9/2) for our roaming disco. One day later we headed to Hornsby for a night of burgers and a movie.

Two up

We’ve been active on the pairing and training front this week.

Firstly, we welcome our newest pairings to the team: Kay and Becki (left, L - R) and June and Nat (right, L - R), it’s great to have you all on board.

Ready to go

And we also want to say hello to our newly prepped volunteers.

It was wonderful to connect with Simon (top left), Scarlett (top right), Curtis (bottom left), Monique (middle) and Michael (bottom right) via Zoom for training last Thursday.

New look

To those of you who may have missed it, we’ve updated our logo to incorporate our new slogan.

This change follows our recent competition. Our new image will be appearing on our website in due course.

Join the team

Following our recent appeal, Our user-led team, Soul Fly Buddies, are now on the lookout for ONE new member.

For those not in the know, Soul Fly Buddies, formerly known as Soul Fly Band, is the project’s advisory group. Made up of participants from Sydney and the Central Coast, they meet monthly, advising and overseeing the ongoing work of Gig Buddies.

In line with our desire in ensuring a fair representation from the areas we cover, we’re looking for the following:

  • 1x member from the Southern Sydney area. This means buddies based in any of the following council areas can apply: Sutherland Shire, St George, Georges River, Liverpool or Bayside.

For those of you wanting to know more about Soul Fly Buddies, check out this brief video containing past and present members.

And if you want to know why you should join our current members (Stavros, Lachy, Jack, Alex, Nalyn, Joni, Karen and Audrey) for our monthly meetups, the following video may provide you with some answers.

Our user led-team have been around since 2016. They meet on the last Friday of each month for around 1 hour, usually via Zoom. They have an in-person meeting at least once a year.

If you would like to join the Soul Fly Buddies, register your interest by clicking here. Alternatively, if you would like more information, feel free to get in touch. We can be reached via Facebook Messenger, email (info@gigbuddiesydney.org) or text: 0412 145 819.
