Did someone say free gigs?

Clear your diaries - we're attending a number of fabulous Sydney Festival events this week.

On Thursday (16/1) we head to the famous Magic Mirrors Spiegeltent for an intimate showing from Berlin-based electro musician, Holly Herndon.

Two days later (Saturday 18/1) you’ll find us at Chippendale’s Seymour Centre for Time Flies (we’ve sold out our ticket allocation), while later on that evening we’ll be settling in under the stars for a night at the opera.

Come join your fellow gig buddies for a night of operatic joy. Bring your own picnic or enjoy delicious food from the many local food trucks catering the event, Opera in The Domain is a musical highlight of the Sydney summer.

Sydney Festival - week one

This past weekend we attended two Sydney Festival shows - Two Crews (10/1) at Carriageworks (below left) and Laser Beak Man (12/1) at the Sydney Opera House (below right).

Thanks to those who joined us for our first socials for 2020.

Back into the groove

It’s been a fruitful first week back at Gig Buddies Sydney HQ.

Firstly, we’re delighted to welcome a couple of James’ to the family. Say hello to our newest pairing - James U and James D (below, L - R).

And last Thursday (9/1) we facilitated our first volunteer training session for 2020. Thanks to Glen, Joel, Jemma, Taylor and Javier (below, L - R) for coming in.

It’s (almost) our birthday

Following last week’s summer gig guide reveal, we're excited to showcase the artwork for our 5th birthday party, taking place on Thursday 13 February at The Shakespeare Hotel.

More information about this event - along with details of everything else we’re attending between now and April - can be found via our ‘what’s on’ page.

Come work with us

And lastly, there’s one week left to apply for our Inner West Gig Buddies coordinator role.

Working four days per fortnight, we’re looking to hire someone from the area to raise awareness of the project and increase the number of paired up buddies.

Applications close on Monday 20 January. For more information about the position, including how to apply, click here.
