Get your Gig Buddies’ merch

The countdown to our tenth is on.

Tickets are flying out the door and the finishing touches to the night’s entertainment have been confirmed. We can also announce our new range of Gig Buddies exclusive merchandise, to be sold on the night.

For those who join us at the Australian National Maritime Museum, they’ll be able to snap up our newly designed t-shirts. Selling for $30 each, they’re available in sizes small - XXL.

In terms of entertainment, we’ll kick the evening off with a live violinist. Isabel Tzorbatzaki will be setting the scene with an eclectic mix of pop, classical, folk, and jazz music.

Indie pop band, The After Thoughts then take to the stage, and we’ll then take things up a notch with a live DJ bringing the club vibes.

And we're also providing the perfect backdrop to our birthday extravaganza: courtesy of our party vantage point, attendees will be able to soak up the sights and sounds of Vivid Festival.

Whether you’re based in Sydney or on the Central Coast, we invite you dust off those dancing shoes and join us.

Ticket sales to our tenth close on Friday 23 May. To join us on the night, click here.

Win, win, win

Time is ticking on our Gig Buddies’ birthday competition.

As a reminder, we’re offering our existing bunch of buddies (buddies and volunteers) the chance to win free entry to our tenth.

Simply refer a volunteer and you’ll go in the hat to win two tickets.

The new volunteer must submit a completed application via this weblink (https://www.gigbuddiessydney.org/volunteers) for the referrer to go into the hat.

We have one double pass to give away. The more referrals, the more times your name will go in the hat!

The darling gigs of May

As for the rest of May, tickets are still available for our four additional gatherings.

This month we’re inviting foodies, movie goers, beer aficionados, NRL fans’, music lovers and appreciators of the quirky to connect with us.

We’ll be connecting with buddies in Eastgardens, Rouse Hill, Mosman and Gosford. To attend any of our May gatherings (or to find out more information about each), jump on the links below.

"I went with my buddy…"

Every month we like to share the ongoings from those who make up our user-led team, Soul Fly Buddies.

Today we hand over the newsletter to Stavros, who tells us more about his recent experience at Knotfest.

"I want to share my experience at Knotfest, held on the 10th of March this year at Centennial Park and put on by Slipknot and their front man, Corey Taylor.

I went with my buddy Christine and here auntie. It a was day and night festival, and the first time me and Christine had attend a big heavy metal event. My favourite bands were Hatebreed, Slaughter To Prevail, A Day To Remember, Polaris, Enter Shkari, Baby Metal and the main band, Slipknot.

There was also lots of yummy food and drinks, as well as plenty of merchandise and tour shirts, jumpers and jackets.

Overall, it was a great heavy metal festival put on by the mighty Slipknot."

- Stavros

Updated plan?

Here’s us with a friendly reminder for buddies with Gig Buddies’ NDIS service agreements.

If you have an unscheduled plan review or the dates/details of your plan change for any reason, it’s very important you let us know.

Any changes to an NDIS participant's plan will automatically make your Gig Buddies' service agreement void.

We need to be informed of any date changes so we can update your service agreement and ensure you’re still covered by our public liability insurance when out with your volunteer.

If there have been any changes to your plan or if you’re unsure about your current service agreement, please contact Lara, our NDIS Coordinator, either via email: lara@assistcom.org or phone: 0412 145 819 or 02 9419 6951 (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 9am - 5pm).
