The 14 weeks that were

In a further sign that things are slowly returning to how they once were, Gig Buddies Sydney staff are starting to make their way back to the office.

With lockdown restrictions continuing to ease, we'll now be splitting our working weeks between home and our HQ, meaning staff can now be reached on the office landline (for those of you who may have forgotten the number: 02 9419 6951).

Lockdown began back in March, and in the passing 14 weeks we facilitated the following online events:

Thanks to everyone who joined us for our pub quizzes, virtual bingo, charades, Pictionary, bring your pets to Zoom, the Gig Buddies Sydney Play-doh challenge, Q&A, talent shows, karaoke, art classes, Easter egg competitions and our Mother’s Day morning tea.

None of us knew what to expect going into lockdown, and none of us knew how we would fill the void of regularly catching up with one another.

We’re of the opinion that our engagement levels increased and our community grew stronger; we have shared many moments over a karaoke contest or a bout of bingo, watching new friendships foster. During the past 14 weeks more than 500 buddies have joined us online for our various events, while we also facilitated over 70 chats - engaging with more than 350 participants via Facebook Messenger and Zoom.

Pens and paper at the ready ✏️ 🖊️

Our online social events continue this week as we invite buddies to join us on Tuesday (7/7) and Friday (10/7) for Pictionary.

To join us online for any of our events, click on the links listed below.

The above ticket links will include information about what technology is needed to join in. All Gig Buddies Sydney online activities take place via Zoom.

Keep on walking 👣

We kicked off our bushwalking socials last Tuesday (30/6), taking in the magnificent views between Coogee and Bondi Beach.

We were blessed with great weather - thanks to everyone who joined us in the Eastern Suburbs. A full photo gallery can be found here.

We go again from Coogee to Bondi Beach this Thursday (9/7). Unfortunately that trek has sold out, but we do have limited places available for the following:

Location: North West

Location: North

To join us on any of our remaining walks, click on the links listed above.

If you have any questions about any of our up and coming socials or would like more information, send us an email: info@gigbuddiessydney.org, get in touch on Facebook Messenger or contact us via text or on the phone on either 0422 061 990 or 0412 145 819.

Please note, during the weeks when we facilitate our bushwalking events, we will run one online social gig only.

All trained up…..

Back at Gig Buddies Sydney HQ we welcomed another two volunteers to the team.

Thanks to Timothy and Kerry (above, L - R) for coming in for training last Monday (29/6). We’re looking forward to introducing you to your respective buddies soon.

…..and ready to go

And on that note, here’s us welcoming four new pairs to the family.

Say hello to Caitlin and Clare (top, L - R), Samantha and Brianna (middle, L - R), and Donna and Michelle (bottom, L - R). Just like Tim and Eric, our other pairing made this week (but with no picture), we look forward to seeing you out and about.
