Last week we revealed that Harri’s employment with Gig Buddies Sydney is, sadly, almost at an end.
Therefore, we are on the search for a new Gig Buddies Sydney NDIS Coordinator. Working three days a week, we are looking for someone to continue Harri’s work of ensuring participants include the project within their NDIS plan.
While knowledge of the NDIS is not essential, previous experience in engaging with people with disabilities is desirable.
We’re looking for someone who is hands on, a team player not afraid to make suggestions, and who is passionate about inclusion and empowering adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities and/or autism.

Spreading the word
In other news, our efforts in addressing our imbalance of volunteers to buddies have continued.
Last Wednesday (25/9) Carol and Harri appeared at the Northern Beaches Disability Expo, engaging with locals while looking to recruit new service users.
Our appearance at Dee Why RSL followed Tony and Harri’s presentation at the Inner West Disability Forum the week before (19/9). On both occasions Gig Buddies Sydney staff engaged with local disability providers and potential users from the respective areas, informing those in attendance about who we are and what we do.
Spring socials have sprung
Thanks to everyone who joined us last Tuesday (24/9) for this year’s first springtime social.

Food, glorious food
Attention now turns to our next social event - a trip to the Noodle Markets on Friday 11 October.
Taking place at the city’s Hyde Park, buddies will experience the best from Bangkok Street Food, Chinese Dim Sum King, Satay Brothers, Mr Bao and May’s Malaysian Hawker (click here to see the full list).
Our trip to the Noodle Markets is free to attend - just bring money to get your fill on food and drink. Please note, this is a cashless event; attendees are required to pay for all purchases on card (all major cards accepted).

Three more to go
It’s been another busy seven days at Gig Buddies Sydney HQ.
Since the last update we have matched up another three buddies: we’re delighted to welcome Bek and Ella (below left, L - R) and Rae and Rachael (right, left - right), plus Will and Jaysal (not pictured) to the team.
With three more volunteer training sessions planned between tonight and mid-October, we look forward to getting more buddies paired up soon.
