Welcome Nalyn and Joni

Back in October we appealed to the Gig Buddies Sydney community, looking to recruit new female members for our user-led team, Soul Fly Band.

We’re excited to welcome the two newest additions - Nalyn (front row, centre left) and Joni (front row, far right).

They were joined by other regular members Stavros (front row, left), Audrey (front row, centre right), Fraser (back row, left) and Lachy (back row, right) last Friday (20/11) as we headed to the Balls Head Hotel for an early Christmas lunch.

We’re delighted to have Nalyn and Joni join the committee - and we can’t wait to hear their ideas in 2021.

Lights, camera, action

International Disability Day of People with Disability is almost upon us - be sure to check out our Facebook page this Thursday (3/12).

On the day we’ll be sharing the video buddies have made, based on this year’s theme of “disable stereotypes".

The team behind International Day of People with Disability have encouraged people to share their own messages of “seeing the ability in disability”, and we’ve called on the Gig Buddies community to record videos that go some way towards informing, educating and changing attitudes about disability.

Happy gigmas!

Later tonight we head to Surry Hills’ Keg & Brew for the first of nine Gig Buddies Sydney Christmas parties.

Over the course of the next 11 nights you’ll find us at Randwick, Chatswood, Erskineville, Campbelltown, Macquarie Park, Castle Hill, Dee Why, Oatley and the CBD - during which we’ll connect with over 200 buddies.

Because we’re facilitating Christmas catch-ups until Thursday 10 December, there will be no online socials happening either this week or next. We will, however, return to Zoom for one final event for 2020 - more of which will be revealed next Monday.

Hayes on the big screen

In other news, last Friday (27/11) gig buddy Hayes (pictured below with mum, Deb) and his family appeared on Channel 10’s The Living Room.

For those of you who may have missed it, the episode is now available via 10 Play. Click here to check out Hayes' house transformation.
