To mark the final Monday of the month we’re handing over the newsletter to one of our volunteers.
We're reopening our volunteer vault, and today we hear from Jacob (below left), who tells us more about his match with Tim.

- How long have you been volunteering with Gig Buddies?
I’ve been volunteering with Gig Buddies for almost 5 years now! It’s been a wonderful experience and we’ve become such great friends.
Tim has become a lovely part of my life, and even came to my wedding!
- Is Gig Buddies your first volunteering role?
It is! I was looking for a way to give back, and thought it sounded like a great program. I’m incredibly glad I signed up all those years ago!
- Why do you volunteer with Gig Buddies?
It’s a really rewarding experience, and so much fun!
Tim and I have met lots of great friends through the program, and it's wonderful community to be a part of.
- How would you describe your volunteering experience with Gig Buddies?
Fun, rewarding, and extremely fulfilling. It always makes my day or week better when I catch up with Tim!
- Tell us about some of the highlights from your time volunteering with Gig Buddies?
We love the Gig Buddies Christmas and birthday parties - they are always lots of fun hanging out with everyone.
Tim and I have gone on some great adventures together, including the NRL grand final, NBL finals, lots of pub nights, and heaps of music concerts!

We also went to the Tree Tops adventure park with another gig buddies pair - that was really fun!
- What would you say to someone reading this who is thinking about volunteering with Gig Buddies?
Please, please do it! It adds a wonderful part to your life, and my time with Tim is something I really look forward to.
It’s a really great way to give back to the community, and you’ll find it super rewarding.
"Please, please do it!"
We want to say thank you to Jacob for sharing his story. Both he and Tim are a perfect example of who we are and what we do: two mates catching up and having a good time together.
And we’re always on the lookout for more people like Jacob. If you would like to volunteer with us, look no further: to sign up with our Sydney project click here, and jump on this link to get involved on the Central Coast.

It’s wonderful to welcome them to the fold and we look forward to hearing about their forthcoming catch ups.
The Premier League is back
And lastly, we’re reaching to see if any members of our community partake in FPL (Fantasy Premier League).
FPL is the official fantasy football game of the English Premier League. Last season over 11 million people played the globally popular game and, as the 2025/26 season looms, we’re wanting to know if we should join the party.
Do you play FPL (Fantasy Premier League)?
Would you like to join a Gig Buddies FPL mini league?
No, I am not interested
We’ve created a poll, wanting to know if buddies are interested in joining our very own FPL mini league. You can submit your reply by clicking on either option listed above.
For those wanting to know more about FPL, including how to sign up and ultimately play the game, click here. And if you have any questions about our potential mini league, reach out via Facebook Messenger or text (0402 708 814).
