Pub grub and trivia

We had intended to share news of a planned outing to this year’s Love Lanes Festival, taking place in Wyong on Saturday 12 February.

However, at the time of going to press, event organisers announced their decision to postpone the event, from February to Friday 8 April.

Alas, we will be in attendance for the rescheduled Love Lanes event. We’ll share more information about our plans nearer the time.

As for the month of February, however, this morning we made some phone calls and we’ve come up with two alternative events. You’re invited to join us for pub grub and trivia in Gosford and The Entrance on the following dates:

- Pub trivia @ The Settler's Tavern, East Gosford: Wednesday 9 February: 6 - 9:30 (quiz starts at 7)

- Pub trivia @ The Lake's Hotel, The Entrance: Tavern, East Gosford: Tuesday 22 February: 6:30 - 9:30 (quiz starts at 7:30)

Our February outings are free to attend. We’ll be arriving in time to order food at both events. For more information about each gig, including how to sign up, load up the links above.

And if you have any questions, get in touch: we can be reached via Facebook Messenger, email: info@gigbuddiescentralcoast.org or via text or phone call on 0402 708 814.

Did you know, all Gig Buddies’ events - whether they take place in Sydney or on the Central Coast - are open to all fully signed up participants?

Gig Buddies’ social events are all about bringing our growing community together, enabling attendees to expand their social circle. Our group catch ups are for everyone, irrespective if you’re paired up or not, and regardless of whether you’re a Coastie or a Sydney-sider.

Out and about with Sydney-siders

On that note, our friends in Sydney are also getting out and about in February - attending two events in the city.

Firstly they’re off to the Royal Botanic Gardens for this year’s Garden Social, while later in the month they head to the Art Gallery of NSW to sample the Matisse: Life & Spirit. Masterpieces from the Centre Pompidou, Paris exhibition.

For more information about each event, including how to sign up, load up the links below:

- The Garden Social: Friday 11 February, 5 - 8pm @ Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney

Art buddies

On the subject of attending events, we have a limited number of discounted tickets for sale to Doug Aitken's New Era exhibition, currently taking place at the Museum of Contemporary Arts (MCA), Sydney.

Earlier this month a number of Sydney-based-buddies spent an evening at the picturesque museum, sampling the event. They highly recommend the event!

A word from the pros

In light of the ongoing rise in Covid numbers we’re going to continue pushing referral services for those who may be struggling.

Mental Health First Aid Australia have issued the following guidelines on assisting someone distressed by the Covid-19 pandemic, and they’re also providing mental health first aid in the time of ‘social distancing. Additionally, the team from ideas.org.au have shared their ‘look after your mental health in the COVID-19 crisis’ list of ideas.

reachout.com have also released their 10 ways to take care of yourself during coronavirus guide, while for those of you now working from home, Black Dog Institute have put together the following checklist to support your mental health.
